Intimate Celebration, Authentic Cuisine

An exotic venue

For many couples planning for their nuptials, it is an unavoidable fact that a large scale reception is often a must, as parental pressure dictates a long guest list. However, for those who covet a little more privacy and personal interaction with their invited guests, many are turning to smaller receptions that are held solely for immediate family, relatives and close friends only. This could be a separate function from the traditional banquet at a hotel ballroom. Some even go as far as insisting on only a small, intimate event, after having managed to convince their parents to forgo the big wedding do.

In Kuala Lumpur in particular, a number of restaurants that epitomise chic surroundings and a sophisticated ambience have begun tapping this segment of the wedding market. One such establishment is Bijan. A fusion of modern interiors and traditional Malay food makes it a perfect venue for an intimate celebration. As in every Malaysian celebration, the highlight is the food. Here, a vast selection of authentic Malay dishes – from everyday favourites to the lesser-known secrets of the Malay kitchen – will tempt the palates of your guests. With a maximum seating capacity of 200 persons, the set-menu or buffet reception can be preceded by cocktail canapés, ensuring that couples spend quality time with each and every one of their guests.

When holding a wedding celebration at an intimate restaurant, be sure to discuss the following with the venue :

  • Menu options – do you have to select from what’s available or is customisation possible?
  • Beverage – what is best suited to the type of food served?
  • Parking – is there sufficient parking? Is there a valet service?
  • Photography – can the premises be used for portrait photography prior to the actual event?

Tip : In terms of wedding décor, take the cue from the interior aesthetics of the venue and design your floral arrangements, table centrepieces and wedding favours accordingly.
