Combining the best of East and West

Here in Asia, we literally have the best of both worlds when it comes to invitation cards. Steeped in tradition yet willing to embrace the new trends emanating from other parts of the world, our creative artists provide soon-to-be newlyweds with a myriad of choices.

Be it long established pioneers in printing, more recently established specialty card companies or the new movement of independent graphic designers, invitation cards ranging from the traditional to contemporary, quirky even, allow couples to set the tone of their wedding at the onset. In this instance, the colours, wording and inter-related design ideas provide guests with a glimpse of the impending celebration.

Modern or traditional, the options are aplenty

In our Asian society, the design of invitation cards can be an issue where conflicts may arise between the young couple and their parents. A cosmopolitan Chinese couple, educated abroad, may favour a design predominantly in white with silver lettering, much to the chagrin of their more traditional parents. The latter would certainly be more accustomed to one in red and gold, colours that symbolise prosperity, fortune and good luck.  Whatever the case may be, the solution perhaps is to compromise, so that all parties are happy with the end result. After all, weddings are meant to be happy occasions, aren't they?

Tip : For those with an individualistic streak in them, why not have a personalised one-of-a-kind invitation card designed? It may cost a bit more when compared to catalogue-type designs, but what you get is a one-off customised creation bound to be a conversation piece among guests.
