The creativity of the modern-day photographer together with the enthusiasm of cosmopolitan-minded couples have opened the door to many interesting ways of capturing formal portraits of the bride and groom. Gone are the days where the only option was to have such pictures taken in the confines of a studio. In fact, many couples nowadays, are game enough to have their portraits shot 'on location' prior to their wedding or perhaps even have them done as part of their actual wedding day.

Weather permitting, our country offers a variety of landscapes that would be the perfect backdrop. Rainforest-fringed parks, gardens abundant with flora and fauna, white sandy beaches that meet the aquamarine of the sea, hill resorts that conjure images of a bygone colonial era, the choices are almost endless, perhaps only constrained by one's wedding budget. Those who prefer to remain in the city however, are also not disadvantaged. Our modern skyscrapers which stand side by side with pre-war shophouses, international hotels with renowned interiors, historical buildings with great architectural detail and the like, all provide the photographer with wonderful backdrops to work with.

A good photographer would be able to :

  • Suggest locations for your portrait shoots.

  • Describe the 'look' which will be achieved at such locations.

  • Make you aware of possible difficulties which may have to be endured during on-location shoots.

Tip : It will be a good idea to visit the location with your chosen photographer prior to the shoot.
