A day of a multitude of emotions

| Your
wedding lasts only a day. Marriage lasts a lifetime.
Similarly, photos are the enduring images that
you will be able to look at time and again as
the years go by in marital bliss. Often, we come
across couples who surprisingly fail to allocate
a portion of their wedding budget to professional
photography. Instead, they rely on friends and
relatives - amateurs but passionate photographers
nevertheless - to capture the very special moments
that mark the beginning of their life as husband
and wife. Granted, many of these friends and relatives
do actually do a good job, and may capture candid
shots that a professional wedding photographer
may not be able to, particularly at a large wedding.
In fact, their enthusiasm contributes to the excitement
that the day demands. |

| Having
said that, it is imperative that professional
photographers be hired to document your wedding.
Stylistically superior, their experience and expertise
will ensure that every facet of your wedding is
documented, while the rest of the budding shutterbugs
enjoy themselves too. Remember, you have invited
the latter to be part of your wedding, so let
them be part of it, even if it means having to
smile for many, many cameras. Your professional
wedding photographers should be experienced enough
to navigate themselves through such a situation,
without the necessity of you having to restrict
the movements of your enthusiastic guests. |

The moment arrives

| The
main reason many couples put forth when deciding
against appointing professional wedding photographers
is cost. The perception of professional wedding
photography being expensive is really one that
shouldn't exist. In fact, the market offers a
variety of professional photographers, each one
of them providing differing packages to suit almost
every reasonable budget. They run the gamut from
the 'higher end artists' to freelancers who specialise
in shooting weekend weddings while holding on
to a permanent day job. Who is to say that the
latter aren't as good as the former? After all,
one man's meat is another man's poison. The adage
'beauty lies in the eye of the beholder' also
holds true here, as the diversity of photographic
styles available, ensures that every preference
is catered to. Suffice to say, more expensive
doesn't necessarily mean better, as it is all
really a matter of personal taste. |

| Budget
wise, work on a realistic figure. Even those with
a minimal amount - albeit a reasonable amount
- to spend, would be able to find a photographer
suited to their needs. Indeed, some practical
photographers offer an option of their photography
service only, without requiring clients to spend
on albums. What they get are CDs of the images
taken, and the creation of the wedding album is
then left to the creativity of the couple. |

| True,
there will be 'pros and cons' in relation to the
various packages offered. The most important thing
in deciding on which option to choose, would be
the level of comfort you feel about such an association
with the said photographer. Sometimes, our gut
is what serves us best in making such decisions. |

| Tip
: Don't ever let your photographers restrict your
guests from taking photos. They have been invited
to have fun and enjoy themselves, let them! |
